Strike Gold With Paco Rabanne’s Newest Fragrance

Introduced again in 2008, 1 Million is Paco Rabanne’s most profitable males’s perfume. Now, in the end, the French style home is rolling out a brand new addition to the road: 1 Million Elixir. Created by perfumers Quentin Bisch and Christophe Raynaud (the latter is among the noses behind the unique 1 Million), the model’s newest perfume is pushing the enduring line ahead.

For a perfume this well-known, that’s no straightforward process. And for Raynaud and Bisch, this meant making 1 Million Elixir bolder and richer than its forebear. “I used to be impressed by the uncooked supplies emblematic of perfumery [in the] Middle East, like saffron, cèdre Atlas, and, in fact, the superb and distinctive Damask rose,” says Raynaud. “I like this temper; [it’s] wealthy, opulent, and sophisticated.”

1 Million Elixir actually places its uncooked supplies, hand-picked by Raynaud and Bisch, on full show. Top notes embrace candy apple oil and hints of Davana leaves. Next, a layer of Turkish rose and osmanthus — the latter, floral with notes of leather-based and apricot — combines with wild-grown tonka beans. Endnotes embrace lingering Davana, together with patchouli, cedar wooden, and black vanilla seed. “When I create a fragrance, I’m like an architect; I take into consideration [its] construction,” says Bisch, explaining the method of constructing layers of scent right into a package deal that’s coherent but intriguing.

Of course, a perfume like this — daring and wealthy — requires an acceptable bottle. For 1 Million Elixir, this comes within the type of a cheeky visible metaphor that followers of the unique 1 Million are properly acquainted with: a gold bar. “It was the primary time that humour appeared in fragrance,” Raynaud says of 1 Million’s launch again within the late 2000s. The model has maintained this air of tongue-in-cheek enjoyable, leaving the bottle untouched save for the addition of a hanging black triangle that represents the scent’s new, bolder route.
