Under the aroma mission, 10 lakh lemon grass slips and 75kg seeds of fragrant marigold, shall be sown on round 336 acres. The venture will profit 1,209 farmers of the area. CSIR-IHBT, Palampur, director Sanjay Kumar mentioned the aroma mission had been initiated in 2017 to promote the cultivation of high-value fragrant crops for socio-economic upliftment and employment era for the farming group and rural lots. “Under the second part of the aroma mission, round 3,000 hectares shall be introduced underneath cultivation,” he mentioned. Aromatic crops are extensively cultivated world wide due to their high-value important oils, that are utilized in agrochemical, meals, flavouring, perfumery, and pharmaceutical industries.
