(*9*) a Latina journalist who makes a speciality of style and wonder, make-up is one thing that’s welcome — even celebrated — in my area. Wearing a glittery eye or a brilliant daring lip to the workplace is met with compliments, not disapproval. And I’m grateful to have a profession the place make-up is lauded as a type of individuality, creativity, and self-expression — typically even a nod to my heritage. But that is not at all times the case in different fields, like regulation or politics, the place (largely white) males outnumber ladies, particularly Latinas, and make-up is considered, nicely, a bit in a different way. Too a lot — or too little — and also you’re labeled “unprofessional.” (Eye roll.)
