UMass Chan reports data on diversity makeup of students, faculty and staff

UMass Chan Medical School is posting data on the diversity composition of its campus group in assist of its strategic aim to extend diversity, fairness and inclusion. The Diversity Data Dashboards embrace self-reported data from UMass Chan’s faculty, staff and college students by race, ethnicity and gender and shall be up to date yearly.
“It is essential that as we speak about rising illustration, it helps to start out with a clearer understanding of the present inhabitants,” stated Marlina Duncan, EdD, vice chancellor for diversity and inclusion. “We all want a typical understanding of the place we’re; questions reminiscent of ‘Who is at UMass Chan,’ ‘How do folks determine’ and ‘What are some of our targets round this’ are methods to make sure that consideration to diversity is a precedence of our establishment.”
UMass Chan’s dedication to diversity, fairness and inclusion is described within the diversity pillar added to the IMPACT 2025 strategic plan in January. It outlines strategic targets to extend DEI by way of polices and processes; develop and combine an anti-biased curriculum; improve DEI schooling, engagement, and capability; set up fairness inside DEI recruitment, mentorship, and development; and consider and assess progress.
Dr. Duncan stated data will drive these targets and allow the establishment to create the local weather and tradition it aspires to create.
