Pivoting From Lawyer to Beauty Exec

Vivrant Beauty, which was identified to most as Harlem’s first luxurious magnificence boutique, opened in 2015, prioritizing the haircare and skincare wants of ladies of coloration. Often known as “the Sephora for girls of coloration,” the brick-and-mortar store stocked its cabinets with impartial, women-owned, clear and/or cruelty-free manufacturers, similar to Briogeo, Mischo Beauty, and The Lip Bar. At the boutique, many of those manufacturers got their first shot at a retail alternative. However, because the panorama started to change with the rise in magnificence retail e-commerce, Verdejo had to take a step again and think about the sustainability of her enterprise. Ultimately, in 2018, she determined to shut the boutique and its e-commerce web site. She did not understand it then, however it was the start of a completely new entrepreneurial journey for the sweetness founder.
